How to reach Nainital

By Road

 There is a bus stop in Nainital. You can easily choose a bus as a medium of transport to reach Nainital.

Driving to Nainital can be a good option for you as well. From Delhi, it’s highway driving throughout. NH 24 connects Delhi to Rampur via Hapur. At Rampur, turn and head north on NH 109 (previously known as NH 87) all the way up to Nainital.

By Train

The nearest railway station is Kathgodam,  on the outskirts of Haldwani, 35 km away from Nainital. Taxis are available outside the station to reach Nainital. You can also walk out of Kathgodam railway station, the bus station is 1.5 km away. Take a bus to Nainital, it’s only 60-65 rupees per person.

Eco Cave Gardens:

Eco Cave Garden is located at Kaladhungi Road of Nainital. It is basically a cluster of a number of caves that are interconnected with each other and offer a great sight to the visitors.  There are six underground caves present in this garden. These caves are connected through narrow tunnels. 

All these six caves are named after some wild animals that they closely resemble. Some of the caves of this garden are so narrow that people even need to crawl for visiting them. And this adds a pinch of adventure in the trip of travellers. 

Snow View Point:

This magnificent place of Nainital is located at a height of 2270 meters with the view of cold-clad Himalayas. People love to visit this place via Cable Car Service of Nainital. Snow View point is about 3km away from the main town area of the Nainital.  A small temple is also present at this high-altitude point, along with shacks for souvenirs, tea and snacks.

Tiffin Top:

Tiffin Top is situated at an altitude of 2290 meters in the Ayarpatta Hills of Nainital. This scenic beauty of Nainital is also known as Dorothy’s Seat in the memory of great painter Kellet Dorothy.

Hanuman Garhi:

This temple is located 4km away from the main town area of Nainital. Hanuman Garhi is not only a temple but also a famous spot to embrace the sunset and sunrise.

Khurpa Taal:

Sariya Taal:

This small yet breath-taking lake is located at a distance of 5km from Nainital. This little heart-shaped lake with simmering water and peaceful environment is like watching the sight of God on Earth. 

This lake is nicely visible from the top of hilly road also. The himalyan botanic garden is located at the banks of this lake, offering a rich variety of flora and fauna. 

St John Wilderness Church:

This place is dated back to 1844, located in the mallital at the north side of Naini Lake. This Church is considered as one of the oldest and finest churches of Nainital. 

For the ones interested in history, the church has a memorial commemorating the victims of the 1880 landslide that killed over 150 people.


Mukteswar Temple is located at an altitude of 2312 meters which is a 350 years old auspicious Hindu Shrine.

Since years, this temple has been a significant shrine for Agaries – an iron ore miner community and people from Maheshwar sector. Mukteswar Mahadev has also been mentioned as one of the 18 important Shiva temples in Hindu scriptures.
